A handle tumbler is judged in the hand before it is judged on the shelf, so the handle is the product rather than a feature of it. The differences that matter between two otherwise identical 30oz tumblers are the handle's grip geometry, how it attaches, and whether it survives a dishwasher.
What to specify
- Handle type. A moulded part of the body, a welded addition, or a separate clip-on. Each behaves differently in use and in cleaning.
- Grip dimension. How many fingers and how much clearance. This is where a copy of a competitor's mould usually feels wrong.
- Attachment integrity. A welded handle introduces a joint at the point of maximum load.
- Base diameter. A handle changes the centre of gravity, so base diameter and cup-holder fit become a pair.
- Lid pairing. The handle lid and the slide straw are different propositions on the same body.
Where the cost sits
| Element | Effect on cost |
|---|---|
| Mould, if new | Largest single item on a first order |
| Handle in the body mould | Higher tooling, lower per-unit than a welded addition |
| Powder coat | Per colour, with its own minimum |
| Decoration | Per position and per colour |
| Lid choice | Standard fitments are materially cheaper than new geometry |
What people get wrong
The common mistake is specifying the capacity and the colour and leaving the handle to the factory. The handle is the reason a customer chooses this format over a straight tumbler, and the second most common mistake follows from it: an item that is comfortable in the hand but no longer fits the cup holder the buyer designed it around.
Questions buyers ask
Is a handle tumbler harder to ship?
The pack is bigger for the same capacity, so fewer units go in a carton. That is a container-planning consequence rather than a production one.
Can a straight tumbler be converted?
Only with a new body mould. A clip-on accessory is a different route and a different product.
Which capacities sell best?
Ask your own channel rather than us — the format sells across a wide range and the answer depends on whether it is going into a car, a gym or a kitchen.
The tumbler and mug range lists the capacities and lid options we tool, with the pack-out data on the catalogue.
