A quotation has three numbers that matter more than the unit price: MOQ, tooling cost and lead time. Here is how to read them.
MOQ is a setup cost, not a policy
Print screens, colour matching and line changeover cost the same whether you run 500 pieces or 5,000. MOQ is simply where that cost stops hurting. Ask what MOQ becomes if you accept a stock colour.
Tooling is a one-time conversation
Mould cost is paid once. Ask who owns it, whether it stays reserved for you, and how many parts it can produce before replacement.
Where the hidden weeks are
Not in production — in artwork approval, colour matching and packaging sign-off. Buyers who reply within 48 hours routinely save two weeks.
Book capacity, not just price
Peak season is real. Confirm the production slot when you place the order, and get it in writing.
