Sampling before commitment

Six Things To Ask Before You Commit
Not our claims — the questions that separate a programme that repeats from one that restarts. Every one of them has an answer on this site, and the answer is worth getting in writing rather than in an email thread.

Give the hand-over date first — everything else is planned backwards from it.

Ask for the decoration options at the quantity you are actually ordering, not at a headline volume.

Ask whether the shade matters, because if it does not, the cost comes down and the schedule shortens.

Ask what the presentation is — tube, mailer, set — and get it quoted separately from the product.

Ask about the artwork: one or two spot colours is a different route from photographic artwork, and the file you need to send changes with it.

Can you hit a fixed event date?
That is the question the whole programme is planned around, so send the date with the enquiry. Sampling is 3–7 days and production is 10–25 days after sample approval, and the schedule is planned backwards from the hand-over rather than forwards from the order. A peak-season or year-end run is worth booking early, because the weekly capacity figure is a real constraint.
What is the cheapest way to brand a bottle for a campaign?
One colour, silk screen, on a body that already exists. That removes the tooling, removes the second colour setup and removes the photographic artwork requirement, which are the three line items that actually move a promotional unit cost.
Is there a smaller minimum for a small corporate run?
The published minimum of 500 pcs per colour on existing tooling applies here as it does everywhere, and it is counted per colour rather than per order. Below that it depends on the body and the decoration, so ask with the specific item rather than assuming — the answer is sometimes yes.
Can the individual boxes be branded too?
Yes. Gift tubes, mailer boxes and presentation sets are printed to the same artwork standard as the product and quoted against the board, the dieline and the print. Where the goods ship to separate recipients the packing changes, so raise that before the packing plan is fixed.
